Experience Summary
Prior to changing my undergraduate major to Geography, I was an elementary education major. I have always enjoyed working with students; however, at the time I wanted to try something different and is how I ended up working as a Park Ranger for the National Park Service (NPS). My experiences with NPS have allowed me to teach in an informal setting, by educating the public about their national parks. I also have the opportunity to present curriculum based education programs in grades K-5 about different aspects in NPS. My experiences have also pushed me to start a Masters of Science degree in Biology to further my knowledge. While I was an undergraduate, I was also a teaching assistant for physical geography labs.
Teaching Style
I have always loved teaching, whether its adults or children. Everyone has their own learning style and teachers need to be able to adapt teaching methods to help all succeed. My personality is very driven, outgoing, yet very patient and understanding. My goal when presenting curriculum based school programs is that the students all leave with at least one idea that they will remember and share with others.
