Experience Summary
I have an engineering degree and have worked in the Oil & Gas industry for over twenty years. My engineering degree gives me a background to tutor in areas of math and science. I’m also a lifelong learner which is important if you are going to teach others. I have been a team manager for Destination Imagination (creative problem solving) with teams from elementary to high school for the past eight years. I’ve enjoyed helping students to achieve results based on a set of requirements and their own creativity and hard work.
Teaching Style
My first objective is to achieve the results wanted by the students and their parents. In addition, I want to share my appreciation for the subject. It’s important to understand the students learning style and accommodate it as much as is practical. This way the student can take ownership of the learning and be successful as a self learner. A good teacher not only helps a student to master material, but also helps the student understand the process of learning, so that learning is not solely dependent on the teacher.
