Experience Summary
I've enjoyed helping children and youth since a young age. I was a camp counselor for the Harriet Tubman Museum in Macon, GA at age 12, and tutored kindergarten and first graders at ages 16 and 17. I completed my undergraduate internship in school counseling office, and shortly after graduation worked in a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. I have continued tutoring children on my own time in grades pre-k through 6th. I have my B.S. in Psychology and Human Services and am currently working on my MSCED in Guidance and Counseling.
Teaching Style
I enjoy helping students learn new things. I am a patient teacher but also like to push forward and past where a student is expected to be in school. I enjoy the look on a parent's face when they say that their child as exceeded expectations. I make sure not to teach each child the same because they are all different and learn differently. When working with younger children, I like to use visual aids and materials such as dvds and games. It's important to keep their attention in different ways.
