Experience Summary
Since graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2004, I substituted at various school districts until 2006 and further enhanced my grasp on the fundamentals of effective instruction. I continued to observe other educators at work including their methods of instruction that seemed most effective. I gathered valuable education resources that I could utilize in my practices. Indeed this time was very much a period of continuing education for me. Beginning in 2007 I started as a full time contracted teacher at Hardee High School in Wauchula, Florida teaching two curriculums of Government and American History.
Teaching Style
My approach towards and methods of instruction are centered on meeting the diverse needs of different students and thus employing diverse strategies. Not all students learn the same way because their brains are attuned to different cognitive stimuli. An effective instructor will convey the same learning objectives through these different learning channels. Two, the students will find the repetition and predictability of the class either easy and unchallenging, or boring and difficult to understand. Either way, student motivation suffers. Effective instruction centers the students in the learning process by keeping them actively involved in classroom events.
