Experience Summary
I began teaching in a second grade classroom. After receiving my Master’s Degree in Special Education, I taught at an inner city shelter facility. Shortly thereafter, I taught online for a cyber charter school and tutored at Huntington Learning Center. I have recently taught math at the junior high school level (for 5 years), while coaching softball and basketball. Between all of my teaching experience, I have taught grades K-12 and many different subjects. I enjoy all levels of students and most subject matter. I do favor mathematics and have a fondness for students with disabilities.
Teaching Style
I am firm, fair, and fun. I believe in building upon a student’s strengths and strengthening their weaknesses. I like to teach to the individual student’s learning style. I achieve this by using differentiated instruction, concentrating on the individual’s favorable learning style. I may incorporate manipulatives, music, motion, or visual aids. I believe the student should be active in the learning process and enjoy being engaged with the material to become proud of his/her work and take ownership of the learned material.
