Experience Summary
I have a strong educational background and teaching experience. I was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Tau Delta (the English Honor Society) while graduating Magna Cum Laude from Luther College. At Teachers College, Columbia University, I was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the Educational Honor Society. Through my student teaching, classroom teaching, supplemental teaching and tutoring, I have experience teaching students in nearly all K-12 grades, mostly in English language, literature and reading classes, but also in other subject areas as well as test prep for high school and pre-college standardized testing.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is personalized to the student. Each student has their own strengths and challenges and a good teacher will build on the former and mitigate the latter. I work with students to help them identify their areas of frustration and build confidence by setting achievable goals. I help students connect with and comprehend text by teaching and using reading strategies.
