Experience Summary
After completing my BA and achieving NYS certification in Elementary, Special Ed, and Secondary English, I worked in the Rochester City School District as Special Ed teacher in middle and high school. I also held longterm substitute positions in many city elementary classrooms. For nine years I taught junior high English and Social Studies for Monroe County Catholic Schools. When the Diocese closed most of its city locations, I took a position with Greece School District's Edu-Care as lead teacher in an education-based after school program for elementary students. In addition, I work for an online scholarly bookseller with a strong emphasis on customer service.
Teaching Style
I am fortunate to have developed strong and long-lasting relationships with many of my students and their families. Some of my former junior high students e-mail me their high school drafts for my input. I have an easy going demeanor, but students know I hold them to high standards. I have been cited for creativity, empathy, and student-focus, as well as collaboration with parents and staff. My style of teaching is flexible by necessity as no two students are exactly alike.
