Experience Summary
My teaching experience is based on teaching parts of a graduate-level course on Pest Management as a guest lecturer, the Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) position at Virginia Tech, on participating in conducting insect tours for local school groups, and on training temporary summer employees.
I have a Master’s degree in Biology with concentration in Zoology and a PhD in Entomology. My 8 years of experience working as a research scientist allowed me to develop skills in writing proposals, lab reports and scientific papers.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and I love working with children. It is very exciting to help them learn and see them realize they have acquired knowledge. My teaching approach consists of three main objectives. The first one is to deliver material in an organized way that will allow students to understand the basics of the subject. Second, to help students understand the applications of the material and give them knowledge on how to use acquired skill in real life. And third, to teach students think about the subject and not to be afraid to discuss it. I always welcome questions and ideas from students. I strive to help my students reach their full potential and build confidence.
