Experience Summary
As a mother of 16 yr old twins, I have always been a tutor in reading, english and literature. I got my degree in English/Art/Art Therapy/Literature as a result of my love for the written word and regarding books as our passport to the world around us near and far. I have learned the skills and applied them in research papers, essays and other areas where required in my schooling. I am also proficient in public speaking and presentations via visual aid as well as powerpoint. I have tutored students from 1999 to the present starting with my children and being part of a mentor program in college. I found both rewarding and absolutely love tutoring.
Teaching Style
I love tutoring and working with children to young adults. The internet provides a lot of information but the joy of going to the library to discover new worlds, knowledge or just for the fun of it is still a worthwhile venture.
I have tutored students who truly abhored reading but when we read about New York City and took them to the places of interest we studied and it truly got them excited about the next book. My methods are varied but consistent. I teach outdoors weather permitting on field trips and with themes to keep the child interested and wanting to read and learn.
