Experience Summary
My name is Courtney Helff. I have a wide variety of experience in teaching, even though I am still fairly new to it. I have taught preschool (2 years-old), VPK (pre-Kindergarten), 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade technology. My students in grades 3-5 have all showed learning gains on state tests, such as the FCAT. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with an ESOL endorsement from Florida Atlantic University, and I am currently obtaining my Masters Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment which will allow me to truly impact students and their education. I have been an elementary school tutor for 3 years now and I am very dedicated to working with children in order to help them receive a better education.
Teaching Style
I have loved teaching from the time I was in high school. My love of helping children came from teaching swimming to people of all ages. I truly believe that no child should be left behind, and everything I could possibly do to help a child will be done. I believe that learning does not only occur behind 4 walls of a classroom, but every minute of every day has the opportunity to be a learning experience. I teach through a variety of different methods, focusing on strategies that will help my students master any skill in front of them. I combine both teacher-directed and student-directed activities throughout my lessons so that students have a model to use, but also have the ability to discover things on their own.
