Experience Summary
I have over 11 years of experience providing in home tutoring to individual high school, elementary school, and middle school students as well as adults for test preparation as well as for academic subject preparation. I have also had 6 years of teaching French in public school as well as having developed my own SAT curriculum and program. I am deeply passionate about having students of all learning abilities and levels succeed and am interested in developing ways to help each student showcase his or her own individual talents. I enjoy teaching students of all ages, from elementary through adults, and in all subjects.
Teaching Style
I find an interactive, Socratic teaching style in which I encourage the student to discover the answers on their own to understand why something works the way it does is a very effective approach for me rather than just lecturing, particularly for younger learners. I find it equally important for students to understand the why of what they are learning as well as the how and the what. I believe that students' multiple intelligences should be harnessed and that if students don't understand information presented initially, it is up to the teacher to find different ways of presenting the information so that the student can make it his or her own.
