Experience Summary
Teaching has been a productive and varied part of my life. I've worked as a substitute for nearly 18 years(1974-1992) in the Champaign-Urbana area school districts in Illinois, as well as a private music instructor, and as a class guitar instructor before moving to Nashville in 1996. I've done in home tutoring for students that were homebound for various reasons. I have great communications skills either working one on one or, in a class environment and have developed extensive grammatical skills through the writing of various research papers as a part of both my musical and educational college backgrounds.
Teaching Style
I have a deep passion to share my knowledge with people(all ages). I've developed my teaching style to be proactive towards a students needs, goals and commitment. I treat all my students with respect, patience and consideration, with the idea being to help each one work towards maximizing their fullest potential. I also believe it is important to be sensitive to the students ongoing needs as people, to determine the approach best suited to a students learning needs. I would work to employ a different strategy if the current one was not yielding the desired result. I want to make a difference in the lives of the students I teach, and that requires a constant dedication to the discovery of the means to that end.
