Experience Summary
My teaching experiences include college faculty member and home school teacher for my four children. They graduated from the Independent Study High School University of Nebraska, participated in Running Start and are all college graduates. I was also a 4-H leader for over twenty years and instructed many youth. As a community organizer, I developed public education and outreach programs. This involved teaching and mentoring people of all ages, pre-school through senior citizens. Currently, I am a school nurse for a middle school where I work to assess barriers to student learning.
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I work to build my students’ self-confidence through positive interactions and effective problem-solving. I believe that every person has the capacity to learn. I consistently adapt my teaching to the needs of the student and look for creative ways to help the student to understand. I recognize and affirm every effort to learn, every success not matter how small. I encourage students and know how to release the tension so students do not become discouraged. I am not a lecturer. I work to engage learners and identity ways to make learning fun. I look for ways to affirm a student's efforts and to build on each success.
