Experience Summary
As an Anthropology major, I was qualified to work as an archaeologist with the Joshua Tree National Park for 7 years. I was responsible for site recognition, recording and records keeping. I also interacted with the public as an employee of the park. I also led my own tour groups, all ages and abilities, into the desert for historic and nature tours. I have been a substitute teacher for the Morongo Basin School District for the past 3 years. I work with all ages and all school levels. I am currently taking online classes to get my teaching credential in Special Education. I also work with the public as a real estate agent, and have been selling real estate in the high desert for over 10 years.
Teaching Style
I like to have a guide for the daily work and have specific goals every day. However, when someone is interested in a different subject, I like to explore that topic. I think it is very important to keep students alert and motivated, so I like to explore all types of learning expericences. For example, I enjoy working with the special education children, getting them to stretch and walk outside. I like to play music to them and get them to sing along. I also enjoy getting these children to create art and express themselves in short sentences, writing to match their abilties.
