Experience Summary
Although I had a family and worked full time I decided to go back to school and get my advanced degree from Johns Hopkins University. It was a great school and I felt a wonderful sense of accomplishment by obtaining my degree.
While obtaining a BA degree from Johns Hopkins University, I was inducted into the honor society Alpha Sigma Lambda, and president from 2000-2002. During that time I tutored adults with problems in basic math skills, reading and writing.
Although I did not obtain a teaching certificate - I began my master's degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University in Adult Learning. I moved out of the area before I could finish the degree. I have learned extensive skills from the graduate courses and also from the student teaching that was required during those years.
Teaching Style
I have always enjoyed tutoring students. I would like to be able to give something back to the community and those in need of my services. I am very patient and would enjoy the challenges that tutoring brings. I would use clarity, knowledge, enthusiasm, authority, and have a powerful presentation to captivate the student and thereby facilitate learning. I would be proactive with each individual student in my classroom. As a teacher I'd promote individual thought and reasoning abilities. Students could then become more self-sufficient and independent as a result. By promoting challenging ideas to help the students develop and create their own opinions and ideas. I'd create a positive classroom environment to facilitate the student’s effective learning. I'd enjoy helping other adults or students achieve their educational goals.
