Experience Summary
In high school, I was the typical overachiever. I played varsity baseball, led many school organizations, and was at the top of my class. School, especially math subjects, came easy to me, but that is not the case with everyone. Therefore, I wanted to find a way to help students in these areas. During sophomore year, I was approached by high school administration to tutor students, on a one-on-one basis after school, on math subjects. It was an amazing opportunity because only four students out of the entire student body were picked for this highly-selective position. I enjoyed it so much that I continued doing so until I graduated from the high school 3 years later.
Teaching Style
After tutoring students for a combined four years now, I have learned very quickly that each student is different. Some require more of a hands-on approach, while others work best independently. I prefer to get an understanding of what works best for the student first, and this allows me to tailor my teaching style accordingly. However, I am a thorough and deliberate tutor, and I have found this approach works best in conjunction with the student’s learning style to promote effective long-term mastering of tutored material.
Tutoring students is something I have love and great devotion for, and my passion for helping students is unequalled.
