Experience Summary
I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in Mathematics/Zoology; a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with emphasis in Statistics; and a PhD in Education Administration with special emphasis in Statistical Measurement and Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
In addition to years of experience in industry as an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist, I have taught college courses in Psychology, Statistics, Mathematics, and Techniques of Conducting Research and Writing Research Reports using the format of the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association.
Teaching Style
While all my experience in teaching has been at the college level, I believe I could be effective as a tutor at all levels. As a tutor, it is important initially to assess the ability level of the student and then to construct a tutoring process that is aligned with that level. It is important to: (1) provide the student with all the proper theorems and formulas of the discipline; (2) introduce many different problem examples and explain their solutions; and, (3) assign the student problems to which they may apply what they have learned. A psychological principle of all learning is repetition and practice.
