Experience Summary
I have accumulated 25 years of teaching experience, both in the classroom setting and on an individual basis. I taught English, remedial through college prep levels, in public education for 16 years, and then I moved into private school education for 9 years. I have especially enjoyed working with foreign exchange students, specifically German, Korean, Japanese, and Hispanic. I also have experience as a peer mentor for other educators. My expertise lies in the areas of written and spoken communication, with an emhasis on essay and research paper writing.
Teaching Style
I believe an interactive approach to teaching is the most effective style of relaying information. Lecture with constant questioning and feedback has proven effective for my classroom situations in the past. I also have had great success with modeling the writing process in a step-by-step procedural format. My students and I both enjoy using a multimedia approach to improving all styles of communication. Identifying and focusing on the best learning style of each individual student is my key to success.
