Experience Summary
I recently graduated from Eastern Kentucky University where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in elementary education teaching. While earning my degree, I logged over 800 hours inside the elementary classroom teaching and observing the practices of experienced teachers. I have experience teaching pre kindergarten through fifth grade. During my student teaching assignment, I taught, mentored, tutored and created lessons for a kindergarten and fourth grade math/science classes. I am currently a substitute teacher and am gaining more and more experience with assisting and helping students learn everyday. I have experience teaching every subject and feel confident that I can help students understand information on a deeper level.
Teaching Style
A child must learn to read fluently with the ability to comprehend information from texts. The basics of mathematics must be set in place so that more abstract ideas may be taught. Along with these two components, a student needs to acquire the ability to write thoughts, information, and facts confidently. Instruction should be student centered and address all intelligences.. It is critical to be aware that children learn in many different ways. Text book learning gives application, but it is also important to include a variety of teaching techniques in the curriculum to maximize knowledge, retention, and practicality.It is critical to incorporate , experiments, inquiries, role play, and virtual field trips into the instruction.
