I have a Masters of Music Education with a concentration in Vocal Music from Alabama State University. During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked with parents when I owned/operated my private daycare. I have since then worked with children in low poverty communities in Atlanta Georgia, in order to provide an alternative method to learning to ensure that children receive the appropriate level of understanding of various subjects.
What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. I enjoy helping students learn new things. I am a patient teacher but also like to push forward and past where a student is expected to be in school. It is most important to communicate respect and find natural ways to empower each student so that they feel good about their ability to meet the goals ahead. I encourage critical thinking and often use picture and story associations to improve memory recall.
