As a high school and college student, I was very active in my community as a tutor, mentor, teacher, and coach. I have earned a bachelor degree, BS in Exercise and Sports Science. This degree and other core courses have given me an opportunity to learn and understand many areas including math, science, reading, and history (social studies). As a college graduate, I have worked closely with literacy and classroom teachers with reading and literacy programs. Every child learns differently. In a world where we corporately streamline everything so that it all comes out pre-packaged and exactly the same we often lose sight of how unique each person is. I find that listening carefully to a child's reasons for having difficulty can help you to better understand how to help them learn. I find that children are often given too little credit - especially children with special needs. All children can be more than the world expects them to be. I just enjoy helping them realize that.
My degree in psychology has enabled me to understand all children better, and to work especially well with special needs students. I have experience tutoring students from the ages of 3 to 40+. I believe in teaching to the individual learning style of each child. I am patient , positive and consistent when I teach. My goals are to instill the love of learning in my students and to help them achieve their full potentials.
My teaching experiences include teaching in the regular elementary classroom and in the special education classroom. In addition, I was a reading resource teacher and Title I reading teacher. For the past two years I worked as a Minnesota Reading Corps K-3 Literacy Tutor.

Here is Some Good Information About Florida Writes Tutoring

The Florida Writing Assessment was implemented in grades 4, 8, and 10 as required by a law passed by the 1990 legislature. Does your student need a tutor? Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible. Additionally, beginning in 2010, each student within the same grade level was required to write an essay using the same mode of writing (narrative, expository, or persuasive).
