I believe in differentiated instruction and helping students find the way that individual learns best. I also use active learning which enables students to talk, listen, read, write, and reflect on content through problem-solving exercises, simulations, modeling, and role playing. I am an Elementary Education graduate from the University of Minnesota. I have experience teaching students with emotional behavioral disorders, students who were at high risk for failure and students in inner city schools. I have purposely taken teaching jobs that are challenging and found that I take pleasure and personal fulfillment in being challenged and I perform well in a demanding environment.

Teaching has always been my passion & I enjoy every minute. I believe that all children can learn given the oppurtunity to learn verbally, kinesthetically or whatever way they learn best. I love working with children. I believe they all have the potential to be great at whatever they choose – sometimes they just need that extra hand- and that is what I can offer. I am patient, easy going, kind and encourage laughter. My goal is to engage children in the things they are naturally interested in and to make learning fun. I am currently involved in the public school system as a Literacy Tutor for grades k-3. I have earned a BA in Journalism and English and have decided to continue on to pursue my Masters degree in Education. I have been trained in specific reading strategies that can help improve fluency, phonemic awareness, and phonics; as well as vocabulary and text comprehension.
