A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching because it allows me to connect with youth. I find them very humorous. Some work hard, while others not so much, but either way, a teacher can learn so much from their student. Working in educatuion is a challenge I enjoy, especially when I see how well a student progresses. I hope to be able to continue to make a differnce in a young person's life and be a positive influence on them.
In May of 2004 I graduated from a small liberal arts college in Tacoma, Washington. I majored in English with an emphasis in writing. The writing curriculum I followed consisted of writing personal essays, articles, short fiction and even writing for children. Additionally, I wrote several research reports. A Little Bit About Me...

As a first-generation college student, I am very much driven to achieve a high level of academic achievement as well as to succeed by graduating with my Doctorate's Degree. I have earned my Associate's in Psychology/Sociology and presently working on my Bachelor's in Psychology. I am excited about graduating early in the Fall of 2008 with my Bachelor's and beginning my Master's in Counseling and my Master's in Business Administration in the Spring of 2009. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies according to the different areas of need in each child. No one child is the same, and they all learn in different manners. I approach the student with a safe and clean environment in which they feel the most comfortable learning. A method that works best for them and a friendly approach that makes them understand I care about them and am there to help. I keep in mind that every child has a different way in which to reach goals, so I provide each child with an individualized goal sheet.

I have worked with students of all grade levels from volunteering at the Cocopah Head Start preschool to working with high school students as a substitute teacher. I have an English as a Second Language endorsement and have worked with adults in improving the English level. I excell in creative writing and am currently assisting friends in obtaining their GED.
I believe in Howard Garner's theory of teaching to the student style of learning. They are as follows: Visual, Auditory, Musical, Kinesthetic, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. A Little Bit About Me...

Learning should be both meaningful and fun. I have work experience with children of all ages and mental capacities. I worked at a facility called St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children, as a recreation therapist. While there, I worked with special needs children and designed fun/educational programs for them. I have also volunteered at a local library coordinating "craft time" for toddlers. My goal is to help the student become stronger and more confident in the area that they need help. This is why I try to get to know people to better understand how to tutor them.
