I was involved with a youth program for most of my time in college, so I am able to relate easily to a variety of ages and work with them in such a way that they feel comfortable and confident. My teaching style is relaxed but still organized, and I do a good job of communicating with students no matter their learning style. I graduated from UCF in 2006 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and I've been working as an engineer and project manager in the field ever since. My job requires several certifications that I've had to complete and pass, which is to say math and science are two subjects I use on a daily basis! Math and science are subjects I excelled at while in school and I do have some previous tutoring experience among family friends (the students I tutored were in middle school and high school).

I like to have the students actively participating in the lessons. They enjoy working out the lesson examples and problems on the media that is used so all of the class can see the successes and where we need more work and explanation. Hands on work is very valuable such as working with graphing calculators. The students enjoy manipulatives and technology where they can make their own discoveries. Math and the graphing calculator have become one in the same, so I use them constantly in the classroom. I have been teaching for seven years-mostly math and some language arts. The math teaching included geometry, algebra 1, algebra 2, basic high school math and middle school math. One year my students had the highest improvement in standardized math test scores in the district, for the lower level students. My student test scores have always been high so I retained the scores.
