A Little Bit About Me...

I am very aware that everyone learns at different levels and in different ways. I am observant and mindful of this in teaching. I have worked with children with special needs for many years. Also, teaching ESL has helped me become a strong teacher because it has made me excellent with non verbal communication. It is important to have a stimulating environment for students. I want my students to want to come to my classroom and become involved in the lessons. I believe in balance. I think it is important to have fun but also be productive. Teaching is one of the most important professions in the world and to be able to make a difference in a child's life is such a satisfying career.

I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this. I still make myself available to help any student who needs it even though I have left the classroom. I have also substituted for 3 years at all grade levels. I have had to write many papers during my educational experience. My students had to write essays as part of their testing and do extensive research to write papers to enhance their experience in the classroom.
All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. Each student has their own learning style and a teacher has to help each find what works for each student and then incorporate this to meet the needs for that particular student. A Little Bit About Me...

From a very early age, I have always wanted to teach. I love the way a student lights up when everything connects and they finally understand the topics. I earned my BA in Secondary English Education and my Student teaching semester was extremely rewarding. My cooperating teacher allowed me to teach half days in January and then full days starting in February. We were published in the local newspaper twice for our work in the classroom and I am the better for it. My students and I had a mutual respect and therefore test scores increased in those classes.
I believe all children learn in different ways and it is our responsibility as teachers to accomodate to those different needs. If I am excited then the students will be excited.
