Early Childhood Education Major Experienced in Tutoring

I have experience in tutoring and small group instruction in elementary regular ed, inclusion, and special education classrooms (including speech). Throughout my undergraduate, I have had many hours of field in experience in 2nd grade regular ed and inclusion classrooms and elementary special ed and inclusion, including speech. I have lead small group instruction in varying subjects, assisted in reading and reading comprehension, test prep, and study skills.
I believe in structured education while leaving plenty of room to facilitate learning through creativity and exploration. My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them.
I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies based on the child's needs. I am very adaptable and willing to provide the best method of learning for each individual child. I am patient and pay attention to the child's attitude and non-verbal cues to see where I need to adjust my teaching, even if that means stopping the session for that moment.
