Tutor for Regular Elementary and Special Education

I have recently retired after 30+ years as an elementary special and regular education teacher. For the past 15 years I have also worked as a tutor for the city of White Plains. I have done extensive private tutoring for the past 20 years. For 17 years I worked as an elementary special education classroom teacher at New York Hospital in an out-patient day treatment program. This program involved elementary school age children who displayed severe emotional and academic difficulties and were unable to function in a regular school setting.

I graduated from St. Joseph's College in May 2012 after four years at the college. I received a bachelors degree of cum laude in English Secondary Education and a minor in Speech communications. Poetry is one of my top subjects! I plan to be a english teacher in the coming years after completing my MAT and poetry will be at the fore front of my curriculum. Not only is it a powerful tool of personal visualization using techniques like alliteration to personification it is a powerful tool of expression. My comments on tutoring Poetry : I was president of my high school's poetry club, was awarded golden keys in poetry by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and studied poetry under Marie Howe in my senior year of college.
