I taught elementary school in the 4-J School District. I later returned to graduate school at Portland State University for an MA to teach English as a Second Language and taught ESL to immigrants at Lane Community College. While living in Montana for a few years, I taught phonics, reading, and math with small groups of children in the Title One program in the Eureka Public Schools. Most recently I taught English to international students at the American English Institute at the University of Oregon. I am very patient, encouraging, and supportive. During the program I had two student teacher placements. My first placement was in a middle school mathematics class and my second placement was in a self-contained 5th grade classroom. Although I have earned my degree, BS in Psychology, my previous education includes 2 years at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and 2 years of Engineering at Oregon State University. The years at St. John's have given me the unusual ability to tutor students in Ancient Greek. They laid a foundation in Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus which the years of Engineering built up further.
