Latin is one of my top subjects!

I am a Latin teacher who tries to make every part of the language accessible to all students. I teach grades 7 through 12. I have taught AP courses, advanced ancient history courses, as well as classes such as Latin I, II, III, etc. Working one-on-one, I help students to identify problem areas and focus our attention there. I also can help come up with good strategies to memorize vocabulary or understand complex grammatical structures. I like to make Latin something fun that sticks with you, rather than dull and boring. I've spent a lot of time in Rome studying and can explain a lot about the history, archaeology, and culture behind readings and vocabulary.

More About This Tutor...

As a father of three, I love to teach through example. As much as possible, I love to use practical illustrations to emphasize points and to give the child/student a better understanding of its application. I tend to learn best visually and through repetition and would incorporate that style into my teaching efforts. My goal in teaching would be patience, demanding but considerate, firm but fair.
I worked my way through college, working full-time and attending classes whenever possible. I graduated from Ohio State with a degree in mathematics, majoring in the field of Actuarial Science. A Little Bit About Me...

I recognize the weaknesses in English grammar background that most students have currently and teach Latin with that in mind. I also am able to explain the grammatical concepts that students often find difficult in a reasonable, easily comprehensible fashion. I expect my students to work hard and ask questions when they do not understand.
Since the time I was ABD, I have taught and tutored Latin, Greek, and Classics in translation classes both at the high school and college levels. Currently, I teach Latin (1st, 2nd, and 3rd year) at a local high school as well as Greek and Latin at the Pontifical College Josephinum.
