I am a Latin teacher who tries to make every part of the language accessible to all students. I teach grades 7 through 12. I have taught AP courses, advanced ancient history courses, as well as classes such as Latin I, II, III, etc. Working one-on-one, I help students to identify problem areas and focus our attention there. I also can help come up with good strategies to memorize vocabulary or understand complex grammatical structures. I like to make Latin something fun that sticks with you, rather than dull and boring. I've spent a lot of time in Rome studying and can explain a lot about the history, archaeology, and culture behind readings and vocabulary.

A Little Bit About Me...

I worked my way through college, working full-time and attending classes whenever possible. I graduated from Ohio State with a degree in mathematics, majoring in the field of Actuarial Science. So, I know the value of accomplishment through perseverance and determination. As a full-time employee, I deal with statistical data and clientele daily. I have excellent communication skills both oral and written and use these skills extensively dealing with the public. I have a substitute teaching license from the State of Ohio using this to sub in the local school districts. Since the time I was ABD, I have taught and tutored Latin, Greek, and Classics in translation classes both at the high school and college levels. Currently, I teach Latin (1st, 2nd, and 3rd year) at a local high school as well as Greek and Latin at the Pontifical College Josephinum.
I recognize the weaknesses in English grammar background that most students have currently and teach Latin with that in mind. I also am able to explain the grammatical concepts that students often find difficult in a reasonable, easily comprehensible fashion. I expect my students to work hard and ask questions when they do not understand.
