A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently teaching part time at Globe University, I teach Business Math and Accounting. I enjoy helping my students learn new skills and strive to do their best as they achieve their educational goals. In addition, I have worked in the elementary school as a special education paraprofessional. I worked with four special needs children in the 4th grade. For eight years, I homeschooled my own children, from Kindergarten thru Seventh Grade in Language Arts, Math, History, Science, Geography, Reading, and Writing.

During my undergraduate career, there were multiple influences that contributed to my passion for teaching. First, I tutored college students from Asia who were exchange students. This gave me the opportunity to apply what we learned in the classroom, and adapt to a culture that learns differently than Americans. Second, I tutored a high schooler in Spanish. I used this as a tool to see how a person can still learn when they are not interested in the subject. Third, I taught English last summer in Mexico. I was given a group of high school students, a book of lessons, and hardly any supplies. Resources were slim, but my creativity grew.

I began my teaching career as a piano teacher in 1994, taught a pre-piano bells class & obtained licensure in Kindermusik in 1996. I obtained a BM in Piano Pedagogy in 1997. I then went out east to nanny for identical twins with Down Syndrome for a year which gave me experience with children not only academically but on a day to day basis as well as rooted me well in understanding children with special needs.
