I'm a 2009 Illinois Central College (ICC) graduate majoring in Engineering Science. I have taken almost all the math classes offered at ICC, and for the whole year of 2008, I have worked as a math tutor with the ICC Math Lab in the East Peoria Campus. I have tutoring experience in the following classes: Computational Math, Beginning Algebra, Technical Math, Geometry, Intermediate Algebra, Trigonometry, College Algebra, Finite Math, Business Calculus, Precalculus, Calculus I, II & III and Differential Equations. My teaching style is one which engages the student actively in the learning process. I have used the "popcorn" technique in a classroom, where I call out "popcorn", then call on someone at random. This ensures that each student in the class is following, or else they lose their turn to read. If I'm working w/ a student w/ poor reading skills, I allow them to read, and help them w/ the difficult words, encouraging them to sound out the word.
