A Little Bit About Me...

I started substitute teaching when I was in undergraduate school just as a source of income and because I like teaching. My mother is a retired teacher who taught for over 30 years. I work as an engineer but I always find time to tutor. I have tutored with an SES program and have found that this worked really well. Focusing on how the children learn as a method to approach how they should be tutored is very effective and the children learn.
I have substitute taught for over 16 years and this past year I worked with the SES program tutoring. My areas of focus are sciences and maths but I have had to tutor reading. This year I tutored middle school students but I have tutored elementary as well. I tend to focus on the high level maths and sciences often taking long term positions in high school.

I enjoy teaching very much. I have taught at The Savannah River College for approximately three years. I must say that it was one of the most rewarding job experiences I have had. I am very patient and my demeanor encourages students to approach me. My philosophy is that nothing is too difficult to learn. With the correct approach, technique and attitude any subject can be conquered. Many college freshmen have looked inside their calculus book and sometimes wonder how they are going to deal with the difficult subject of calculus. At the end of the semester many of them not only conquer calculus but some were inspired enough to become Math major.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent cum laude college graduate of Mercer University with a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry, I have an extensive background and understanding of math and chemistry. I have also gained extensive writing skills due to writing lab reports and research papers, in addition to essays written for general education classes. During the last three years, I have helped teach and tutor chemistry students both in a laboratory setting, as well as outside the laboratory.
As a babysitter, elementary school tutor, and hospital volunteer growing up, I have come to love working with children. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been involved with youth for a long time as scoutmaster and as coach in recreational soccer. I enjoy working with children, especially if they are willing to learn and improve their skills and knowledge. I assess the student's grasp on the subject and determine where assistance is needed. Using various means I then help the student to get the knowledge needed to achieve academic success.
As a student in high school, I became fascinated with Chemistry and went on to earn a BS in Chemistry. The position I landed after school dealt with additives in rubber and plastics, so eventually I went on to earn a MS degree in Polymer Science. This helped me to land a better position.
