I have experience with teaching having completed three semesters of internships through my undergraduate and graduate programs; I taught Kindergarten, First and Seventh grades. In said roles, I was given full control of the classroom by my mentoring supervisors. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and impacting young lives (most of these students came from low socio-economic backgrounds and were gravely in need of guidance). I generated creative lesson plans and taught according to state standards. I also successfully dealt with behavioral issues and worked closely with not only the students, but with the parents and fellow faculty. In college, I tutored in Biology and Health/Medicine classes for one year.

Teaching, in general, has always been a passion of mine. I received my BA in Elementary Education in May of 2007. My internship experience was teaching Language Arts in a middle school in Chicago, IL. Upon moving to Fernandina Beach, I became a teacher for Catapult Learning in Jacksonville. During this time, I provided supplemental Reading/Math instruction to students in the first through sixth grades whose test scores were below grade level. I have also provided a six week tutoring service for the FCAT at Yulee Elementary.
With my experience in teaching, I have realized that students are like snowflakes- all unique and they learn in different ways.
