I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry. I spent one year in an Americorps program called City Year in which I tutored/mentored at risk youth in an Algebra 1 intensive class in Miami, FL. I am currently in school to get by masters in education so I may teach chemistry. I have volunteer experience doing homework help with youth in various after school programs in both Erie, PA and Miami, FL.

I have earned both a BS and Ph.D. in Chemistry. I have experience in all areas of chemistry from my extensive research background at several institutions. After completing my doctorate, I spent 4 years at the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) as a postdoctoral fellow. During my tenure at NIST I spent 2 years devoted to mentoring middle school girls, served as judge at several scientific conferences and career advisor to undergraduates at my Alma mater. I have been a tutor since I was an undergraduate. I tutored Chemistry, Math, Biology and Physics. I have a passion for teaching all ages. I am patient, caring and understanding. My goal is to do whatever I can to get the answers children/adults need. I feel that students learn best if they see/hear the information given in multiple ways. I feel that if the material is presented in a variety of ways it will help students learn the material better as opposed to just memorizing. I use all the main teaching tools. Both hands on and visually for those students who need different tools. I love to interact with children and adults helping them through their classes to better their future. I also enjoy having a hand in their future success. I truely believe that a great teacher is one who teaches for the greater growth of their pupils and personally I strive to help them succeed. As an Honor roll student, a student on the Dean's list I was lucky to have graduated early. I taught six graders through opelia. I have also tutored a master's Student through her Statistics. Currently tutoring a student via online on her Senior Algebra for her Liberal Arts degree. I will hold a BA degree come december of 2010.
