As a graduate with a BS degree in Elementary Education, I have gained knowledge in the practice of teaching elementary school. I have been able to observe classrooms as well as student teach. I enjoy working with children and was a Teaching Assistant in New York. My class was small so this gave me a chance to work one-on-one with the students in order to give each child the attention they needed. Some of my duties included preparing lesson plans as well as teaching the lessons to the special needs children. I enjoyed assisting the children with any questions they had and tutored them with their homework. I used the Orton-Gillingham method for dyslexia and found that it really seemed to work well to suit the student’s needs. From there I went on to work two years in resource rooms working with middle school and high school students in a one-on-one and group setting for intense tutoring.
