"Socratic" Discovery or "Discovery Method" uniquely combined with techniques of "Positive Reinforcement".
I tarted tutoring Mathematics when I was a sophomore at College myself.I believe when one reads all the previous detailed information that I have given about my former "Discovery Teaching" and other related experience in Mathematics instruction ,training, and publications, at and for ALL LEVELS, it should be relatively evident that I AM ABLE TO PERFORM WELL as a tutor/Teacher/Instructor of the mentioned Mathematical topics. I have taught almost all Secondary schools, including ALL Mathematical topics and LEVELS(Elementary - "Socratic Method & Positive Reinforcement" Techniques, Secondary, Pre-College, College and University). I have my own unique method of instruction which was named earlier, an instruction mode that energizes, builds self-confidence and self reliance, and also ... read more

Break into the fierce of math ...

I am an Electrical Engineer with a tutoring experience on math in all levels from 6th to senior level. I have had the pleasure of growing in n educated family with mymom being a teacher and my dad was an engineer. From the begining of my schooli days, I had the way of challenging myself in different fields of math and physics. Exploring and learning higher levels of topics in these two fields made me achieve very high levels of education among amongst same age people.

My comments on tutoring Logic : Not sure what class this is, but I am a good logical thinker

Very patient. Usually I will explain the concept, present a practice problem, and double check to make sure he or she understands how to do it. But if possible, I will teach differently in the most effective way.
I have just finished junior year of high school and will be a senior this fall. Throughout my life I have always been especially good at math. I never fail to get an A in math every year. In 10th grade I decided to skip Pre-Calculus from Algebra 2 to AP Calculus BC when I enter 11th grade. Interestingly, I still found AP Calculus BC to be relatively easy. I am the vice president of a tutor club at La Costa Canyon High School. I teach students after school all subjects. I also tutored students outside of school. During my junior year I tutored a girl in Pre-Algebra who did not understand how graphs work. I also tutored a high-schooler in Pre-Calculus two weeks ag ... read more

My comments on tutoring Logic : As part of my degree in linguistics I studied logic & symbolic logic as well as semantics.

I take a systematic "nuts and bolts" approach that gives the student the basic building blocks so that they may become a partner in the integrative learning process that involves figuring out how to properly structure, connect & apply these integrations to form new building blocks, and so on to wider & wider integrations & applications.
Graduated with honors in 2010 from SDSU with a BA in Linguistics and an TESL certificate. I double-minored in History and Geography. Worked at American Language Institute (ALI) before and after graduation as a facilitator (assistant instructor). Graduated from Mesa Community College in 2007 with an associates degree in Social Science.

My comments on tutoring Logic : Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Logic was one of my easier subjects.

Worked about the last 20 years in the actuarial field (short stint away to get my degree), which involves data analysis in excel and access and some programming. I received my bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a minor in statistics in December of 1998. While in school I graded lower division math papers for my teachers, I taught a basic programming language as well as ran a classroom for a virtual teacher (video taped class)
I believe the best way to learn is hands on experience. If I don't find one way to help the student understand I will do my best to try another approach. I have 3 kids under 10, so I am patient with small children, but I expect them to be focused.

I have always believed, in order to be a good teacher, you must teach to the varying needs of students and realize, not all children learn the same way. I am very versatile in my teaching strategies- if a program isn't working, I rely on data and feedback to adjust my teaching. I am also very creative and will strive to make learning challenging and fun!
I have always enjoyed working with kids- it is rewarding to see young students experience the learning process. I've been a special education teacher for the past 3 years in a large school district in Omaha, Nebraska. There, I worked with all types of students with varying learning styles and disabilities. I lead many interventions and small groups in the areas of behavior skills, reading comprehension, writing, grammar and mathematics. I am trained in several intervention programs such as Do The Math, ABLLS, and Start-In. I alread ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Learning requires practice, so I emphasize practice to mastery, following Kumon. In tutoring, it is usually the case that the students can learn most of the subject without a tutor, but that each student who has difficulty has a difficulty not shared by most other students, hence not covered in class or homework. For tutoring, I learn what the students can already do well, what they can do with difficulty, and what they can't do yet, and I learn what is limiting their next progress. That is where I focus our efforts. Most of what you can learn in mathematics you can teach yourself by following the teacher's guidance and reading the textbook. My main goal is to teach you how to teach yourself, and to instill in you a confidence to rely on your teaching yourself more and more. My goal is for you to learn to learn without needing my help.
When I was in high school I tutored other ... read more

I am very student-centered. I believe that all students can learn any subject if the teaching style is adapted to the student's learning needs and prior experience. I further believe that learning should be fun for the student and to this end I constantly seek out interesting resources for students. I am patient and expect high achievement from students, but I also believe that high achievement only occurs when education is tailored to the student. I am currently a Master's student in Educational Psychology and I incorporate empirical research data into my method of teaching; I believe in doing what is proven to work to help students achieve!
I tutored English and Humanities in the Academic Skills Center of my alma mater, Heritage University. I was a Teacher's Assistant at this university for two semesters and often took over for the class in place of the professor. I tutored prima ... read more

I love being able to share my knowledge, especially with students who are still in high school. I have learned how to explain math using pictures, words, examples, songs, and many other ways. All students are able to learn, but the process is different for each individual. Once I find out how a student learns best, I am able to create an environment where not only will they like learning, but they will succeed and have confidence.

During the past nine years I have been teaching 7th to 12th graders in a WASC-accredited private school on a one-on-one basis. Beginning as a math teacher, I have also branched out to teach all social studies subjects as well as fine arts. Early on, it was my pleasure to have an Algebra I student complete my course with an "A" after having failed it 3 times. Prior to that I was a commercial banker for 22 years, which meant I sold bank services and provided customer service to Fortune 1000 companies. I have a BS in Mathematics and an MBA specializing in Finance and Management Policies.

A Little Bit About Me...

Persistent and patience with the student, foundation first for the material. . Especially with math, higher concepts won't be "grasped" unless the lower ones are mastered. Also, I find that doing any math at all for most people improves grasps on new concepts, so I'm never afraid to take a step backward if it means 2 or 3 steps forward. I also teach and encourage liberal use of Logic in problem solving. All of math is simply problem solving, and teaching good thought processes through meta-cognition and careful phrasing goes a long way. I believe that everyone can do math, and concentrating on how the mind can logically arrive at mathematical conclusions makes math a discovery rather than an exercise in learning a foreign language.
At UCR, I was a "drop-in" tutor. This means that for hours of the day in a room with 6 chalkboards, I would teach math to any UCR student who wanted to ... read more
