Just as everyone has their own learning style, teachers have their own teaching style. I see my style as more hands on. When I create lesson plans, I like to think outside the box and find ways that motivate students in connection to their interests.
July 2011 I graduated from University of West Georgia in Carrollton with a B.S. in Middle Grades Education. I began substituting for the Heard County School System in August 2011. When I was in middle and high school, I served as a peer tutor. I guess you can say that I have always had a desire to teach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching students of all ages.I do not have a set teaching style. I use several methods during our tutoring sessions. I believe that each student is unique and they have their own method of learning information. I help the student identify this method and we work together to expand the student’s knowledge in the given subject. My students inspire and motivate me and I encourage them to continue using what they have learned from our tutoring sessions into their daily lives.

As an adjunct instructor, I did not only lecture, but also invited guest speakers, assigned group projects, and used films and music to deliver the content of the class. I understand all students learn differently, so it was my goal to ensure that I offered a variety of techniques to present the class material. I encouraged my students to offer suggestions if they had a better idea about the method of instruction. I am also a firm believer in giving students multiple opportunities to achieve a goal, if they show initiative and are truly trying to grasp the topic. For example, I always gave my students a chance to present their papers to me before the deadline. I would read and return with any suggestions so that the student would earn a higher mark on the final product.
My first job out of graduate school was as an adjunct history instructor at Columbus State University. I ... read more

My passion is to teach and work with children. Although I believe that all students are capable of learning, I am certain that students learn in different ways. My teaching style varies based on the child's needs. I am very adaptable and willing to provide the best method of learning for each individual child. I am patient and pay attention to the child's attitude and non-verbal cues to see where I need to adjust my teaching, even if that means stopping the session for that moment. I believe that I learn how to teach from the child.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate teaching associate at the Ohio State University and having studied Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences of Aachen, I have practical experience dealing with all forms of parlance in the German language. These strengths, combined with a deep knowledge of and fluency in the German language, prepare me to make a strong impact as a tutor. I have extensive teaching skills in the German language due to my time as a graduate teaching associate, having coached and tutored students in mass and one on one.
I use all methods of second language acquisition in my teaching. Most of the exercises I use to help beginning are communicative methods. Teaching young people involves an understanding of the student, what they value and a desire to help them gain the ability to learn in a way that they can respect and embrace. Events must be explained in the context in which they occured. The points of view of all parties must be respected even when they are faulty. Children must be taught why and not just what... The thought process must be matured and methodical so that it can be used as a template that can be applied to a wide range of ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.
During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked wi ... read more
