I have participated in many study groups where I actively contribute information on the topic of interest; there we help each other and teach each other. Also, I'm the oldest sibling of four, I have had many years of helping out with homework and tutoring in reading, writing and math. My education consisted of diverse studies and I learned a great deal of mathematics and sciences. Also, naturally I use proper grammar and have a good hand for writing. I am a very creative person and can come up with unique topics. I'm also very artsy and appreciate a good hands on experiment.

Organic Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I received my BS in chemistry and my MS, Ph.D, and post-doctoral education in organic chemistry. Since 1998, my academic career has allowed me to teach chemistry to a wide variety of audiences, from high school students to assistant professors. During my tutoring sessions, I have noticed that assessing the student’s preference of learning is of upmost importance. This basic inquiry then allows me to tailor the session to their specific needs. Typically, I make use of everyday objects to help facilitate the student’s comprehension of the course material.

My name is Jason Dinsmore and I am the creator of Organic Chemist On Call (OrganicChemistOnCall.com). I first began teaching chemistry in 1998, and I have been doing so ever since. I decided to create this online and in-person tutoring service in October of 2011 in order to provide students with help in organic chemistry on their time. I started with a dry erase whiteboard, a webcam, and one student in North Carolina. Now, I have been fortunate enough to have tutored all around the world! I never thought it would grow into what it is today. My intention is to provide the highest quality of education on your schedule. I understand that students these days are swamped with many academic and extracurricular activities. Therefore, I want to make sure that you have every opportunity to maximize your potential. My overall goals are: To make it easier and more accessible for studen ... read more

Learning as an Individual, Believing in Your Value

Discovery with emphasis on individual learning style - for instance tactical or visual instead of instructional - also have worked with kids who have emotional issues or self image issues that hold them back from learning - interested in working with kids who are in need of a someone who sees them as an individual
Have worked with elementary age children and have tutored/mentored in the workplace. With many years of work experience with employees of varying skill levels, I understand what it takes to be a valued contributor and understand that students learn in very different ways. Creating a relationship with information that is meaningful to the student is the best way to help them learn a concept or process. Most learning focuses on information assimilation while I focus on applying the concept or process to a real work situation that has meaning to the student.

Organic Chemistry is one of my top subjects!

I solve problems. I am a bioanalytical chemist and biomedical engineer. This profession requires using math, statistics, biology and chemistry at a high level on a daily basis as I develop products that improve healthcare. I have taught or tutored science and math from elementary to post-college level for over 25 years in diverse settings.
Student-led and interactive. No lectures. No drudgery. I focus on the process of solving problems. Restate the question. Draw diagrams. Figure out what information is missing. How can I get that information? Can it be calculated or is an estimate good enough? What sources are reliable?

I am most effective in a one-on-one setting with students and prefer that style of teaching. In this manner, I can explore the students strengths while working on their weaknesses in a given area
As a recent graduate, I have spent the last several years in the sub-teacher role learning classroom management and teaching techniques. I have also explored certifications in BioWorks Technology making my experiences more well rounded.

I have been tutoring since I was 13 years old. Parents of my peers always approached me to teach their son or daughter. After I completed high school with a 4.0 GPA I was hired at a professional tutoring school. There I worked for nearly 10 years with a loyal student base many of whom I taught the entire time. I taught kids from when they were in elementary school all the way until high school. Some students were ineligible to go to normal school so I was their only teacher for years. In that time I managed to get these students up to 4 years ahead in certain subjects like math and science. I've also taught students that could not even speak english when they came to me and in a short amount of time they were fluent.
Teaching to me is about relating the information to the students in a way they can understand. It is very important to make the material relevant to their live ... read more

My previous teaching experience and training qualify me to provide outstanding service to students in this community. The rigorous academic curriculum I completed as an English major and Chemistry minor at Duke University cultivated study skills and learning strategies that helped me to excel. As a Phi Beta Kappa graduate, I not only applied these strategies to achieve personal success, but also volunteered to tutor elementary and middle school students with America Reads and at the Kings Park Life Center. As a Math Understanding through the Science of Life (MUSCLE) teaching fellow, I taught innovative science lessons to middle school students and received training about the unique styles of learners. My medical training has provided me with a strong foundation in college-level biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, and neurology, as well as given me further writing experience in bot ... read more

I love working with all children. I enjoy changing my style to fit the specific need of the child and helping them in the way they learn the best. I want to be able to help them learn to become independent problem solvers. I want to help them become an asset to the team even when they are in the classroom and I am not there to coach them through that problem they can use what they have learned and be the best student in the class.
I have graduated from North Carolina State University and earned a bachelors degree in Chemistry. While studying I have learned math and science as my forte but have also taken English, Spanish and history courses. I have written many reports in both my major classes and outside of them. I have been involved in many programs that help enhance children learning. I have worked diligently in the community specifically with underprivileged children to ... read more

In my last year of college I chose to complete my field placement research project at an accelerated junior high school for low income families. At this school I was in charge of the after-school science club. I helped the adolescents learn aspects of science they wouldn't learn in the classroom. We also competed at a state Science Olympic competition. I was also in charge of after-school homework centers as well as a science and math tutor.
I love teaching adolescents. I think it is very fulfilling to watch a child obtain knowledge. I have a very hands-on teaching style. I like to work through all the problems and questions that the children have. I pride myself on using unique examples to explain complex problems and concepts.

I've taught students in a variety of environments: as a chemistry lab TA, as a youth fencing coach, and as a private tutor. While I believe that the details of quantum mechanics may be difficult for many individuals to fathom, I think that most scientific and mathematical concepts can be easy to grasp with the right instruction. I want all of my students to truly understand what they're doing instead of just memorizing an process for working problems. As a teacher I am personable, patient, and easy-going.
My unique experiences and rigorous education will enable me to make a positive contribution to any students education.
