For Science and Math I employ an inquiry-based method of teaching/exploration. This allows for more meaningful learning and gives the student the opportunity to learn on his or her own before being given instruction by the teacher. This method is aligned with the STEM initiative in the United States. For Language Arts, reading, and Spanish, I teach by individualizing instruction to each child, allowing for meaning-making and communication rather than simply rote learning of facts and vocabulary. I graduated from Sonoma State with a BA in English, Single subject emphasis. I am taking a year off before I go back to get my teaching credential in reading. The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas. I also worked in a High School writing center and tutored for the past two semesters. I love being around kids and helping them. Currently I live in Tahoe City, but am more than willing to drive to Reno or other areas as well.
