Experience Summary
I am currently teaching English as a second language to post-secondary international students at California State University Sacramento. I teach all areas of English, including grammar, composition, reading, and listening and speaking skills. I have taught beginning English to refugees in Sacramento, as well as English as a foreign language in Guatemala and Honduras. I have taught both adults and children and love both populations of learners. I am also currently tutoring three Chinese girls with various proficiencies in English. I have worked with students from various language backgrounds including but not exclusive to Arabic, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, African dialects and others. My background in learning a second language myself guides me in understanding the difficulties of learning a second language.
Teaching Style
My style is a learner centered one. I believe in guided learning, where the students make discoveries themselves while at the same time feeling supported and directed. I believe that everyone can learn, and discovering each student's style of learning while promoting confidence is very important to me.
My Hobbies
reading, traveling, running.
