I believe that you must approach education by meeting the student where he or she is rather having the student conform to your style. Therefore I embrace an eclectic style. Each student will present with some king of dominant learning style. They will be primarily visual, auditory, conceptual or experiential. It is my job to discover that style in the teaching process and direct my approach to that student. I think that the way to encourage a child's success is to identify the ways in which the students learns best, and to understand what subjects/topics interest them. I have found that most children with reading difficulties learn by reading well-written stories and by writing from their own experiences.
