Throughout high school and college, I've always excelled in my school work. I was president of the math club and often tutored my peers during my spare time. The University of Florida has provided me with a well rounded education, and I feel myself knowledgable in many areas, from languages like french, spanish and hindi, to the sciences like chemistry, biology, and physics. I'm also very familiar with writing term papers. I like to teach by example and immersion. So much of what schools preach today is rote memorization, and to a certain degree, this cannot be avoided. But whenever possible, I like to try and find real world applications and demonstrations to get my lessons across to my pupil.

As a non-traditional student, my college experience awarded me many advantages, as well as, many opportunities to uncover hidden skills. I believe that one particular style is not necessarily appropriate for all areas of studies or for students with varying assets and deficits. However, I attempt to have the student as involved and interactive with the learning rocess as can be achieved, and being legally trained, often employ the "Socratic Method"--an exchange of dialogue, which maximizes the student's participation and involvement, and even, on occasion, development of the learning process. My first work experience began with counseling Severely Emotionally Disturbed children and their families. In this capacity I worked with the schools in order to enable the students to see the value of education and to work through their personal problems in order to be successful in the school setting. I have always been driven to succeed, especially in school. I graduated magna cum laude with my BA in Communication this past December. This degree increased my own ability to communicate effectively and I am now pursuing a BA in English this Fall so that I can teach high school English.
