Experience Summary
I have always been driven to succeed, especially in school. I graduated magna cum laude with my BA in Communication this past December. This degree increased my own ability to communicate effectively and I am now pursuing a BA in English this Fall so that I can teach high school English. I am fortunate in that I have done well in all of my general education classes, making me confident in my ability to tutor algebra I and II, geometry, chemistry, biology, earth science, and of course English, whether it be writing, reading, or grammar. This past year I have been tutoring Algebra, as well as basic math skills in order to catch my students up to their current grade level.
Teaching Style
I have worked with children for what seems like my whole life, mostly through church. I know that every child can succeed with the right help. I myself am caring, compassionate, patient, and encouraging. I believe that my Communication degree has given me the unique ability to be able to explain problems in concepts in many different ways, which allows me to discover which works best for each student. I also try to relate problems and concepts, especially those that students are not fond of, to their personal lives, whether it be through what they'll need to do in college in order to pursue their dream, or how it applies to real life. I strive to help children embrace the learning of all subjects.
