Every of my students has individual program. On the first stage my goal is to estimate the skill set of the child. In other words – to understand the level of calculation, how good is the opening repertory, if he has heard about endgame etc. After that we create the plan of work on openings. I say which openings we must improve as soon as possible and which ones have to be known for future. Besides the openings very important point is endgame and strategy. Those are two most difficult elements. In the endgame we are working on typical positions. I will explain which pieces should be taken to the endgame and which shouldn’t. I also like teaching strategy to my students. In most of the schools it is not explained because it is tricky even for the coach. Throughout the years of my work I have created about 30 strategy lessons, set special positions etc. The practice shows that due to those ... read more

As a graduate of Indiana University and a current law student at the Ave Maria School of Law, I was and still very much am driven by a desire to learn and share that knowledge with those around me. I earned a BA in Political Science and a Minor in International Studies with a concentration in Human Rights. These two degrees have helped me gain an understanding of how the world of politics works, and its global impact. Because of my major, I have acquired a great deal of experience in writing essays and preparing presentations. My vocabulary and grammatical skills have grown extensively during my time at Indiana and now at Ave Maria. I have tutored students, including my own sisters, in English, history, and social sciences.
My teaching style consists of finding that unique style that will suit each individual student. Growing up, I noticed that it was very hard for certain students ... read more

I am an energetic and dedicated teacher who strives to encourage students to go beyond their very best by creating a positive and respectful learning environment. I establish high expectations for all of my students and create lessons that meet their individual learning needs. I have six years teaching experience in the inner-city of Chicago and hope to use the skills and knowledge I have gained from my teaching experiences in a suburban school district. I am a born teacher and take pride in my ability to motivate students and transform lackluster lessons into attention-grabbing lessons that will encourage students to become life-long learners.
I believe that the role of a teacher is to capture the curiosity of students by providing them with lessons and activities that require them to think outside of the box. Such activities should be hands-on and encourage the students to use th ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

While pursuing my honors degree in mathematics at the University of Chicago, I supported myself through numerous tutoring jobs. I have taught mathematics to students of all ages and abilities, including college-level calculus, set theory, logic, number theory, trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and arithmetic. I have also tutored my fellow students in various topics of physics. While conducting several research projects in pure mathematics, I spent the summers teaching public school teachers in Chicago new ways to improve their classroom instruction. I also have extensive experience in the humanities. My second degree is a BA (honors) in film theory, which is complemented by many classes in philosophy, literature, and art history.
The advantage of one-on-one tutoring is the productive, personal relationship that arises between tutor and student. As a tutor, I use this relationship to ... read more
