My comments on tutoring Poetry : Published works.

I majored in English Literature and Humanities in college before changing majors to Paralegal Studies and minoring in English Literature. Performed duties as an Editorial Assistant in Humanities and in high school annual poetry and creative writing review. Also during my enrollment in a DOD high school my concentration was in Language Arts and Creative Writing. Currently write and perform poetry pieces and sell written songs.
I prefer to demonstrate how to understand content. My tactics are deemed personal modeler as a teaching style. I deliver the content through demonstrating it. I act more as a guide or coach and show students how to do the tasks. Student participation as an important part of my lesson plans. Demonstrators often incorporate different learning styles into lessons.

Then, I establish a baseline of what they have learned so that I can direct my attention to their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, I get into the material with the student and show them how and why the material is important and applicable in the world in which we live.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my education at Alcorn, I have helped a myriad of my colleagues with papers, historical facts, and a general/detail understanding of a given historical topic. I would routinely do this three to four times a week. This opportunity helped to expand my knowledge and expound the students.
My teaching style is to merge technology, current events, and thought provoking question into one. I related the given subject to the student as best as I can. This makes the subject personal and it makes the information easy to retain.

A Little Bit About Me...

I grew up in Spain as my parents were career missionaries. From the time I was young, I have enjoyed teaching and have done it whenever I could. In 13, I taught my younger brother to read. All during high school, I tutored students. When I went to college, my part-time job was to be the assistant to the Spanish professor and to teach in the language lab. I taught for many years in schools overseas, in Nicaragua and Spain. In the U.S. I taught Spanish for 2 years in Piney Woods and 3 years at Clinton High School.
It is my belief that all have the right to receive a thorough and complete education. From 1998-2003, I taught English and French at the University of Yaounde. From January 2004 to May 2009, I taught French and English at Pennington Jr. High in Indianola,MS. I spent the current school year with Sunflower County Schools as foreign language coordinator and as from August 2010, I will be working with Jackson Public Schools. I am also a faculty consultant with ETS and Mississippi Virtual Public School.
I prefer a participative and collaborative teaching style. This involves an active participation of the students. My role is limited to that of guide, facilitator, and helper. Instead of telling or giving students the concepts or skills, I help them discover them. This allows for easier comprehension and longer retention.
