More About This Tutor...

Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor. I have tutored for 3 years while I worked for Tryon Elementary school. I had great success with the students I worked with, in particular concerning math. I am very qualified to work in a tutoring capacity.
I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. I am a Creativity Consultant and use a wide variety of teaching styles in my classes and individual sessions, including lectures, demonstrations, mind mapping, freeflow writing, focusing, and intuitive problem solving. I am a dynamic teacher who has a gift for inspiring, empowering and motivating children of all ages.
For 26 years, I have presented my writing and expressive arts classes in California, Washington State and North Carolina. I have been a substitute teacher and tutor in Language Arts, biological sciences, social sciences, math, mind mapping and study skills. I have offered staff presentations for teachers in whole brain learning, the seven intelligences and creative thinking.
