I have played violin for 12 year and have taught for 4 years. I have a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Furman University. I have performed in the Furman Symphony Orchestra, Carolina Youth Symphony, Wren High School Chamber Orchestra, as well as numerous honors ensembles (All State Orchestra, All Region Orchestra, etc.). I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. That being said I try to make the learning as fun as possible but organized. I also try to bring in anything that they are interested in to make them enjoy the subject they are learning. If I can find an example in life they can relate to that will help them learn something I will find it and bring it in. I love working with children and really love math.
Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor.
