I believe that each student has the ability to learn and understand material as long as they are taught the right tools to harness their potential. I am patient with each student, allowing them to learn at their own pace. My teaching style allows my student to feel comfortable and confident to use the learning tools I supply. I believe students learn best if their coursework is designed to be discovered rather than set as something to simply memorize. I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.
