I spend much of time making the student understand that it is okay to feel behind in a subject and that the student should believe in himself. This belief is built on continued practice on fundamentals that I watch them go through but only ask questions when I see them going astray. Everyone needs to learn the material for his or herself. My place is to make sure they learn the right methods to solve the problem and ensure that they know those methods beyond the tutoring session.
I have been tutoring professional for six years and teaching for five. I am certified by the state of Tennessee to teach secondary math. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children. I have 3 of my own and I am currently studying for a Master of Science in Higher Education so that I can teach. I would love to teach college courses, but my main focus is teaching elementary students. I think it would be easier for me to tutor younger kids versus high shcool children. I believe in constant verbal quizzing and repitition as a means to develop the child's ability to retain knowledge and call it forth at will. I have learned from past work experiences that all people learn differently be it either visual, kinetic (hands-on), or verbal (by listening).
